What is a Demo Jam?
Invigorating, collaborative, and fun - Demo Jams are competitions of innovation and inventiveness. This event brings together Salesforce & Slack SEs from across the organisation and challenges them to develop new solutions and create a video that shows what can be implemented today by the customer.
What is the Slack First Sales Demo Jam about?
Working in teams of 2-6 people, SE participants will collaborate during a three week ideation phase. The challenge is to develop solutions that will improve the sales challenges faced within companies. Through the potential of both Salesforce and Slack, how can these challenges be tackled?
A screen shot demo is ok to show in the video presentation. It must include Sales Cloud and Slack with Bonus points for including other products and Partner Apps as:
Please leverage the Slack Screenshot Kit for Slack customisations
Code is ok to use
Keep it within a realistic use case for the sales buyer.
10 shortlisted teams will then take part in a finalist pitch day, answering questions from a jury about their demo video.

Who can participate in the challenge?
All SEs are welcome to participate and contribute, no matter your geographical location. Slack and Salesforce SEs are automatically partnered up in teams.
When is it?
Three weeks of ideation will occur between November 11th to 2nd, followed by a Final pitch Day for shortlisted teams on November 4th. Teams can collaborate and develop their solutions during regular work hours.
Do I have to be available for the whole event?
We will need some hours of your attention during the ideation phase for the webinars where you get insights and help to be creative and find solutions.
If you are among the 10 shortlisted teams you will join the final Pitch Day day to answer questions about your idea to the jury. The winners will be announced on the same day.
We advise you to manage expectations regarding your availability during the whole event.
Do I have to take days off or arrange cover?
It is recommended that employees notify their managers of their intent to apply to the Demo Jam as a participant. Employees who are selected to take part in the event will need to liaise with their managers regarding their work schedule during Ideation Weeks. Employees selected to participate in the Finalist Pitch Day are requested to adjust their schedules to attend the two hour zoom call.
How can I participate in the Demo Jam?
To participate in the Demo Jam, register here.
Am I guaranteed a spot if I apply?
We have a maximum of 250 participants worldwide so please register early to avoid disappointment. The criteria will be transparent and fair, ensuring we have ideas and participants that can deliver innovative demo videos.
What is the ideation phase?
This will be Phase One of the Demo Jam, October 11th to November 4th. Participants will be invited to join an online platform where Agile, business and technical mentors will be available to provide assistance and guidance on idea refinement. In addition, the platform will host published ideas, team member requests, and other useful content to prepare for the event.
Do I have to have an idea to apply?
Not necessarily. If you think you have the skills that can support another's idea, please do apply. However, all ideas are welcome, so do submit ideas if you have them too. We may choose participants but not their ideas in the selection process depending on volume and skill sets.
Where is this going to take place?
The Demo Jam will be hosted entirely on a digital collaboration platform.
Must I be part of a team? What is the minimum/maximum number of people within a team?
Yes, participants must work in teams of 2-6. You will be put into teams based on your region and skills. You will be allocated your team prior to receiving the invitation to the platform.
Do I have to know how to code?
No - The best entries will show a compelling demo video that answers a sales persona pain point. You may use code but this is not necessary.
Will there be training?
There will be extensive video and written guidance on the platform and opportunities to book sessions with mentors and coaches before and during the event.
What time zone are the events?
This is a global competition. Where possible we will match those on appropriate timezones for ideation. We will ensure all shortlisted entries get the chance to pitch live to the judges.
What are the judging criteria?
This will be discussed on the kick-off call.
